Nobody thought we’d be here a few years ago – the Lions are good, and now everyone wants to steal our coaches. Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn are getting head coaching interviews left and right, and Detroit might have to figure out what life looks like without them.
Johnson’s turned this offense into something special. Remember when scoring 30 points felt impossible? Now it’s just another Sunday. The Panthers and Colts are drooling over what he’s done with Jared Goff, and they’re not the only ones calling.

Glenn deserves just as much credit for fixing our defense. The Broncos and Saints see what we see – a guy who turned a laughingstock into a real unit. Thanks to the Rooney Rule, if Glenn lands a head coaching job, we’ll get third-round compensatory picks in the next two drafts since he’s a minority coach. Johnson’s potential departure wouldn’t bring any picks.

There’s already buzz about potential replacements. Davis Webb, currently the Broncos’ QB coach, is getting some attention. The Saints are interviewing him for their head job, but NFL insider Ian Rapoport thinks he needs more seasoning first. Webb’s work with rookie Jarrett Stix this season, especially in that Week 17 shootout with Cincinnati, shows he might be ready for a coordinator role.
Davis Webb is a bright young coach who has done an excellent job. He'll have his time in the HC circuit. Just not yet. https://t.co/bVctOcD1ju

Look, we’re not the same old Lions anymore. I know, I’m tired of hearing it too! But Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell buried the Quinn-Patricia era for good. They found Johnson and Glenn in the first place, didn’t they? This front office knows what it’s doing. The culture’s changed, the talent’s here, and even if we lose some coaches, Detroit’s finally cooking with gas.
Right now we’ve got bigger things to worry about, like making noise in the playoffs. But man, watching these interviews pile up feels like the cost of finally being good. Guess that’s what happens when you build something worth copying.
