Following our previous coverage of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks, new information has surfaced revealing potential specifications for Nintendo’s next-generation console. The latest leak, focusing on the console’s motherboard layout, provides the most detailed technical information to date.
According to images circulating on social media, the Switch 2 will feature significant hardware upgrades, including 12GB of DDR5 low-power memory (split across two 6GB SK Hynix chips) and 256GB of internal storage – eight times more than its predecessor. The leaked motherboard shows an Nvidia system-on-chip (SoC) manufactured by Samsung in 2024, though specific model details were intentionally obscured in the images.

Reddit user zcomuto’s analysis of the motherboard identified several key components, including a Realtek audio chip and a USB 2.0 controller from Genesys. A recent patent filing suggests the new SoC might support graphical upscaling technology similar to Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS).

The Joy-Con controllers also appear to be receiving upgrades, with the addition of a new “C-Button” on the Right Joy-Con and the implementation of Hall Effect joystick technology to prevent the drift issues that plagued the original Switch. These improvements align with previous leaks showing the console’s external design.
While Nintendo maintains its silence ahead of an expected announcement before March 2025, the gaming community continues to analyze every detail of these leaks, measuring and debating even the smallest components visible in the motherboard images.
With these specifications suggesting a significant upgrade over the original Switch, Nintendo seems poised to deliver a more powerful gaming experience while maintaining the hybrid nature fans have come to love. The question remains: will these improvements be enough to compete with modern gaming hardware, or is Nintendo once again choosing its own unique path in the console wars?
