All right everybody it’s been 7 months since my last article post. I’m honestly not going to go too in depth with this one or grab a bunch of screenshots or media posts or anything like this. Rather this is just my pure raw opinion on the Nintendo Switch 2. And that is this: the Switch 2 is like the Wii U situation on steroids. What I mean to say by that is the average consumer does not acknowledge that this is a separate game console despite the 2 moniker. For the average parent, this is just another Switch. But it is not the Switch that parent will pick up for their child. When the choice is between a colorful small $200 USD lite Switch or a bulky and hefty $500 premium feeling switch, the 8 year old is likely going to be gifted the former. Nintendo went and abandoned their child audience and made a console for an older gamer. I wondered just how intentional this was, so I decided to look into what their current user metrics are. I was not too surprised then to find that the target audience for Nintendo these days is no longer children, but rather adults aged 25-32.
So there you go. Do I like the Switch 2? Yes. It feels premium, it works well, and it plays all the games I had before with smoother animations and faster loading times. For a child these things do not matter and they would more than likely prefer the colorful Switch that easily fits in their hands.
